Council denied claim it opposes Remembrance Day services

At a tourism, communities, culture, and leisure committee meeting, former Conservative councillor Leah Fraser claimed event organisers were told about the requirements 24 hours before Remembrance Sunday which she said "suggests the council intentionally wanted to stop the parade."

However Conservative committee chair Cllr Ian Lewis said the question was factually incorrect, staff had been excellent in helping organisers, and the council was committed to supporting services.

On July 11, he said parade event organisers across Wirral were sent a letter by the police who said they could not provide support for any events across the borough.
