A new era for sport... but not for transport
Liverpool Echo

WILL be amongst 25,000 fans at Everton's new dockside stadium tomorrow, as the club stages the second of three 'test' games, required to claim the necessary safety certificate for the next season.
When I secured my ticket in the ballot process, my first thought was a sense of joy in being a part of history and finally getting the opportunity to view what is clearly a spectacular new royal blue home.
To be honest, I'm more interested now in how I might get there, where might I park (nowhere apparently), and should I take the train to Sandhills or try and pick up a Soccer-bus somewhere in the city Clearly, anger and frustration continues to rage, not least on the local radio phone-ins and letters to the ECHO. It has been intriguing, bordering on amusing, listening to some of the solutions fellow supporters have been putting on the table.
Rebuild the famous 'Overhead Railway' has been a popular thought, as if this can be turned around overnight. I'd love this to happen, but try selling that one to a continually cash-strapped city council. The nearest you will get to seeing the 'Ovy' is to visit a fascinating exhibition at the Pier Head's National Museums Liverpool (NML).
