Sweden stars as Yorkston unites First Aid Kit and Cardigans

If you travel from Fife across the North Sea, you can get straight to Sweden. Although this may not be the route James Yorkston took on the way to his latest collaboration.

However, the Anstruther-based singer-songwriter clearly has some sort of affinity with Scandinavia. In 2023 he teamed up with Nina Persson - best known for 1990s chart stars The Cardigans - for a well-received album The Great White Sea Eagle.

Now, perhaps buoyed by this success, he's added another Scandic chanteuse to the lineup for this release - Johanna Söderberg of Stockholm indie folk duo First Aid Kit.

The result, the descriptively-titled Songs for Nina and Johanna, is his sixteenth for the indie super-label Domino.
