Playing surface at NDP could be sold

Hamilton Advertiser

February 26, 2026

Hamilton Academical secured their loan from the Funding Globe against the playing surface at New Douglas Park - and if the club was to go into administration it could be sold to pay off creditors.

- PAUL THOMSON

The League One outfit moved to Broadwood Stadium in June 2025, signing a two-year lease, after a fallout with the owners at New Douglas Park.

However, the Advertiser can exclusively reveal that Accies own the artificial playing surface at the Hamilton venue, which they have paid up in full after a three-year loan of £450,000 was taken out in 2018, making it an asset the club owns but does not currently play on.

The surface is believed to have been valued between £200,000 and £300,000 by Funding Globe.
