Mayor of Greater Lincolnshire, Dame Andrea Jenkyns, has visited Lindsey Oil Refinery in North Killingholme

- By IVAN MORRIS POXTON

THE Mayor of Greater Lincolnshire, Dame Andrea Jenkyns (Reform UK) has visited Lindsey Oil Refinery in North Killingholme and urged all parties to find a solution for it to survive.

However, should the refinery's future not be saved, she has promised to do all she can for staff "to support them with training and employment needs".

Dame Andrea's intervention comes after trade union Unite called for certainty "in days, not weeks" over the refinery's long-term future.

Companies that are part of the Prax Group ran and owned the refinery, but entered liquidation on June 30.

The UK Official Receiver, independent from Government, has taken over management of the refinery, with FTI Consulting LLP representatives acting as special managers of the companies.

Staff at the refinery itself, understood to number a little over 400, have been retained for now while options for the refinery's future are looked at.
