Ministeriële doelwitte

Meyer het vier kern doelwitte uitgelig:

• Bevordering van landbou-ontwikkeling;

• Bou van sterk verhoudings met die sakegemeenskap;

• Verseker voedselsekuriteit; en

• Uitbreiding van marktoegang vir Wes-Kaapse produkte.

Met sy agtergrond as voormalige Wes-Kaapse minister van finansies beklemtoon hy die belangrikheid van finansieel volhoubare strategieë. Sy passie vir die Tuinroete se potensiaal was duidelik, en hy het sy strategiese plan gedeel om ekonomiese groei van 3 tot 5% teen 2035 te bereik en minstens 200 000 nuwe werksgeleenthede in die provinsie te skep.

Die Wes-Kaap is reeds 'n topuitvoerder van vars produkte soos wyn en vrugte, en die Tuinroete kan volgens hom binnekort 'n nog groter bydrae lewer.
