Health Secretary Neil Gray needs to park his Scottish Independence fixation and get a grip on the healthcare crisis in Dumfries and Galloway, according to the region's MP.

John Cooper was furious to discover that patients are spending nights in hospital corridors, and has written to Mr Gray at Holyrood calling for action. Conservative MP Cooper said: "Gray should have had a straight red card after it emerged he used taxpayer-funded vehicles to chauffeur him to a pub and football games. But First Minister John Swinney is too weak to sack him, and now many in the southwest are questioning what exactly his role is.
