Bryan Adams-loving Howe aims to rock top-5 rivals

NEVER mind the Summer of '69, Eddie Howe hopes Newcastle will soon be basking in the glory of their most successful campaign in almost a century.

The Magpies' workaholic head coach took a break from plotting the downfall of Champions League rivals Chelsea in tomorrow's high noon showdown by going to watch rock legend Bryan Adams at Newcastle Arena on Thursday night.

Howe described the evening as his most enjoyable away from football for a long time.

And he'll be on Cloud Number Nine again if Newcastle overcome Chelsea to leave themselves on the brink of securing a top-five finish.

"I went to Bryan Adams which may surprise a few people but he was very, very good," said Howe, in a rare comment on his private life.
