NHS bosses promise to do better after prison deaths of William, 16 and Katie, 21

HEALTH chiefs have apologised to the families of two young people who took their own lives while in Polmont Young Offenders Institution for "failures relating to healthcare services".

Their comments followed the recent determination of a fatal accident inquiry into the deaths of student Katie Allan, 21, and William Lindsay, 16, both from Glasgow, in 2018.

Sheriff Simon Collins found both deaths could have been avoided but for a "catalogue of failures" by the Scottish Prison Service and healthcare services.
