Texas singer Spiteri and broadcasters Young and Magnusson get doctorates at Glasgow University

TEXAS singer Sharleen Spiteri was honoured at a university yesterday along with telly favourites Kirsty Young and Sally Magnusson.

The delighted trio received their honorary doctorates at Glasgow University.

Thrilled Sharleen, 57, said: "Is there a doctor in the house?

"There is now. I think I might go home tonight and say to my husband 'I'd like you to refer to me as Doctor' so we'll see what happens."

The delighted rocker added: "First off, when I got the phone call, I went, 'Oh, my God'.

"The first thing I thought of was my mum Vilma because she was a massive Queen fan.

"Every time Queen would come on, my mum would go, you know they are Doctors of music?'
