GUY LEARMONTH has been handed a shock Diamond League comeback tonight in Lausanne - with a remit to tee up a new world record.

Borderer Learmonth, 33, who has been out for almost a year through a series of injuries, has accepted a late call-up into the men’s 800 metres at the Athletissima meeting.

He's been tasked with pacing Kenya's Olympic champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi’s crack at besting the all-time mark of one minute 40.91 seconds that was set by compatriot David Rudisha in his run to gold at London 2012.
