EWEN FERGUSON came back from a poor front nine to put himself in contention on the opening day of the Genesis Championship.

The Dubai-based Scot's four-under 67 saw him sit two off the top in South Korea. Ferguson said: “I didn't do that well on the front nine but you can't have everything go your way all the time so I wasn't really bothered. I managed to get the momentum on my side and it ended up being a solid day”
