Scots singer admits he turned up 'emotional' and abused his partner
POP star Finley Quaye has avoided a jail sentence after admitting he smashed up his former partner's cafe.
The singer broke open the front door of ex-lover Rena Gawa's business in Edinburgh.
He then barged into the premises and threw chairs and flowers before breaking a number of glasses.
The Brit Award-winning artist was arrested after witnesses in a neighbouring shop overheard the commotion.
He spent the weekend in police custody following the incident in July.
At an earlier hearing at Edinburgh Sheriff Court, the 49-year-old pled guilty to behaving in a threatening and abusive manner towards Rena and to wilfully or recklessly destroying property.
Both offences were said to be aggravated by the abuse of a partner, or ex-partner.
The Sunday Shining singer was back in the dock for sentencing yesterday.
A sheriff was told Quaye turned up in an emotional state at the cafe at about 9am.
