No10 pressures Russian leader to show end to war is possible

VLADIMIR Putin must stop killing Ukrainians if a peace deal is to be finalised, No10 said yesterday.

Less than 24 hours after US President Donald Trump said an agreement to end Russia's war on Ukraine was "closer than ever", Prime Minister Keir Starmer's spokesman said the Government was hopeful of a peace deal.

But he added: "Over the weekend there have been a series of devastating Russian attacks on Ukraine.

"If Putin is serious about peace, he would stop the killing and end his campaign and seriously engage in the peace deal that is on the table.
