First Minister's pledge despite Labour walkover

JOHN Swinney will "work very hard" to get the backing of rival parties for today's Budget.

Despite Labour having already pledged not to block SNP spending plans for the year, the First Minister insisted he was still keen to "work with others" and "create common ground" around the proposals.

Swinney said the Budget for 2026-27, to be unveiled by Finance Secretary Shona Robison, would be focused on the cost-of-living crisis and providing "strong investment" for the NHS.
