Fan hopes Scotland tie can unlock his past

A SCOTLAND fan is on a mission to find his long- lost Moroccan birth family before the two countries meet in the World Cup.

- BY IONA YOUNG

Ryan Anderson believes seeing his two nations meet on the pitch will bring him closer to gaining answers after being abandoned on the streets of El Jadida as a baby.

The 36-year-old Hibs and Scotland fan discovered a “positive lead” on his most recent trip there this month, and hopes it could be the missing connection.

Ryan was adopted by a Moroccan man and English woman living in Edinburgh when he was six months old and brought up in the city, before being told about his history when he was 18.

On Sunday, he watched Morocco's dramatic defeat to Senegal in the final of the African Cup of Nations from El Jadida.
