‘The best donuts ever’ he tells 3.2 million TikTok followers

- By ANDREW FORGRAVE Countryside and Tourism Editor

FOR a few hectic, frenzied hours last weekend, all roads led to north Anglesey. Huddled under hoods and braced against Storm Amy's gusts, were hundreds of donut aficionados, all eager to snap up a local speciality for a bargain price.

Many had travelled from England, with one family making a 300-mile round trip from Barnsley in Yorkshire.

Some arrived an hour before opening time, while latecomers queued in the rain for 90 minutes, only to find the last donut had gone!

What they didn’t know was that in their midst was an American influencer who was about to ramp up the noise surroundings Anglesey's ‘Ménuts’

Unrecognised by staff at Melin Llynon -’a restored windmill near Llanddeusant - Kalani Smith bought a box of six and hurried back to his car, cold, wet but full of anticipation.

After filming himself scoffing the lot, he posted a clip declaring: “Oh my gosh... I would genuinely say these are the best donuts I've ever had anywhere in the world”

Tennessee influencer ‘Kalani Ghost Hunter’ boasts some 3.2m followers on TikTok, 673,000 on Facebook and 458,000 on Instagram.

Following his Anglesey visit, he ignited a donut debate that sent sugarcoated shockwaves around the world.

Richard Holt, a former pastry chef who established Mr Holts’ Ménuts at Melin Llynon, couldn't believe it. “My inbox is full of requests from people in different countries asking if we ship our donuts in the post,” he said. “Unfortunately we don’t - all our donuts are freshly made, so we can’t”
