CLIFF FALL RESCUE HIGHLIGHTS AIR AMBULANCE FEARS

A LARGE emergency response was sprung when a visitor slipped and fell from cliffs on the Llŷn peninsula.

The person had been reported missing from nearby Porth Iago campsite where they had been staying.

Coastguards from Aberdaron were first on the scene and they were joined by other Coastguard teams from the area.

Due to the remoteness, a Wales Air Ambulance was summoned from MoD St Athan, near Cardiff.

The incident occurred at Dyllborth, a tiny rocky cove surrounded by steep cliffs and grass-covered rocks.

The Wales Coast Path runs nearby but few people venture into the cove apart from climbers who appreciate its “short, punchy routes”.

At around 7.30pm on Saturday, the alarm was raised when a guest at Porth Iago failed to reappear after going for a walk.
