Tunnel closure sparks hours of chaos on A55

Deserted - the A55 after the tunnel was closed
A "FAULT" in the A55 Conwy Tunnel caused hours of traffic chaos yesterday.
The tunnel was shut in both directions at around 8.30am, causing gridlock.
Traffic jams stretched back for miles on both sides to Penmaenmawr and Colwyn Bay, as engineers worked to fix the fault affecting safety systems in the tunnel.
It was the second major incident to hit the tunnel this year after a crane lorry fire in June led to its closure.
At the time of yesterday's incident, the Welsh Government said: "The Conwy Tunnel has been closed due to a fault identified with the safety systems within the tunnel.
