Timetable changes in effect with doubling of N.Wales line service

ONE of the most substantial alterations to Britain's railway timetable since the troubled May 2018 overhaul took effect yesterday, including the doubling of a North Wales line service.

Transport for Wales will double the frequency of trains between Chester and Wrexham to two per hour, as part of the timetable revamp.

Meanwhiile, in other parts of Britain, travellers on the East Coast Main Line will see more services and shorter journey times following £4 billion worth of investment over the last 10 years.

LNER described the “transformational” modifications as enabling it to operate almost 10,000 extra services annually.

Weekday services between London King’s Cross and Newcastle will increase by 46%.

Journey time reductions include 15 minutes between London King's Cross and Edinburgh, and 10 minutes between Edinburgh and York.

Railway timetables are revised twice yearly, in May and December.
