COPS HAD TO TASER 'PSYCHOTIC' 28-YEAR-OLD TWICE
A ‘PSYCHOTIC’ son pressed a lit cigarette onto his mother’s forehead and set fire to her flat. Police had to Taser him twice when he brandished a kitchen knife.
Shaun Royce (below), 28, admitted affray, arson and other offences. His mother Mary Royce, 68, feared for her life and deplored being assaulted at her age - let alone by her own son, Mold Crown Court heard.
Prosecutor Jade Tufail said the defendant had been staying at his mother’s supported living flat in Wrexham on May 26. Residents were mainly elderly and vulnerable.
At 6am, Ms Royce asked her son where her handbag was.
He was smoking a cigarette which may have come from her bag.
He refused to give her a cigarette.
He then pressed his own lit cigarette onto her forehead for about ten seconds, said Ms Tufail.
‘The pain level was ‘seven out of ten; reported Ms Royce.
Royce then went to the kitchen and came back with a large serrated knife.
