MAYDAY CALL AS YACHT DRIFTED TOWARDS ROCKS

THE crew of a stricken yacht drifting “perilously” close to rocks sent out a Mayday call on Saturday.

Rescuers rushed to help the vessel off Anglesey and it was towed into port.
A spokesman for RNLI Moelfre said the distress call came after the 30ft yacht had “catastrophic engine failure” off Point Lynas.
A local vessel went to help and the lifeboat crew arrived to tow the yacht to Amlwch. It is understood there were no casualties from the incident at Saturday lunchtime.
The RNLI Moelfre spokesman said on its Facebook page: “The Moelfre ALB was swiftly launched at 12.45pm in response to a Mayday distress call from a 30-foot yacht.
