A MAN who strangled his partner twice has been spared jail.
Luke Carroll grabbed his victim around the neck at their home then, after she tried to run away, lifted her partly off her feet by the neck.
The woman managed to ring 999.
Carroll, 32, was arrested and given conditional police bail but then contacted her more than 50 times.
Carroll, of Woodland Drive, Flint, was given a 16-month jail term for intentional strangulation and a two-month jail term for harassment, but these were suspended for 18 months.
A judge at Caernarfon Crown Court said the sentences could be suspended as he was so lightly convicted and had been so frank and remorseful in his pre-sentence report.
Prosecutor David Mainstone said Carroll and the woman had been in a relationship for nine years and had three young children.
