Keep fireworks off the Great Orme

COUNCIL ISSUES PLEA TO PROTECT CONSERVATION AREA

LLANDUDNO'S annual fireworks bonanza attracts thousands of wide-eyed visitors, some watching the spectacle high up on the Great Orme. Increasingly, however, private displays are being staged on the headland itself, sparking concerns for its delicate habitats and historical sites.

Conwy Council has issued an urgent plea for the activity to stop after used pyrotechnics were found in several areas of the limestone hill. Fireworks are banned in all council-maintained public spaces but the local authority is particularly worried about their impacts on the Great Orme.
