HCC market update: number of new season lambs stable

THE number of New Season Lambs (NSL) coming forward remained relatively stable on the previous week at around 37,300 head (writes Lowri Thomas).

Despite numbers remaining stable, the NSLSQQ average recorded a notable fall of just over 12p/kg on the week to stand at 666.1p/kg. The price gap between this year and last has narrowed as a result to around 49p, along with the current average being £1.36 higher than the longer term 5-year average. Current averages are now similar to that seen during mid-May this year.
