Diaz dragging Reds over the finishing line despite uncertain future at club

ONE landmark down, two more on the horizon.

Diaz dragging Reds over the finishing line despite uncertain future at club

But for a player reaching new heights at Liverpool, the debate over Luis Diaz’s future at the club has become more intriguing than ever before.

When stepping off the bench to give the Reds hope of an unlikely comeback in the 3-2 Premier League defeat at Fulham on Sunday afternoon, Diaz notched his 14th goal of the campaign - his best such tally as a Reds player.

It surpassed his total set in the 2023/24 campaign which, having joined halfway through 2021/22 from Porto in a £49million deal and then missing a large chunk of the next term through injury, was his first full season as an available Liverpool regular.

Having now made 97 league appearances, Diaz will be expecting - injury permitting - to reach a century of Premier League outings over the remaining seven matches this season.

And he is only eight short of 150 games in all competitions for the Reds.

However, whether the Colombian winger is still at Liverpool next season to give himself a chance of reaching that milestone remains very much in the balance.

There’s no doubt Diaz has been an integral player for Arne Slot during the Dutchman’s first season in charge at Anfield.
