Cafodd ymgyrch y Placiau Porffor ei chreu i gydnabod cyflawniadau a chadarnhau gwaddol merched yn hanes Cymru.
Enwebodd Gemma yr ymgyrchydd dros famolaeth, y gwleidydd a'r ynad heddwch Ethel Hovey, dynes arloesol ond anhysbys i raddau helaeth, yn dilyn ei hymchwil helaeth ei hun.
Yn ddiweddar datgelwyd plac yn coffáu Miss Hovey ym Mae Colwyn, ar safle Nant y Glyn, y cartref mamolaeth a sefydlodd ym 1938.
Mae Gemma, darlithydd Saesneg yn Chweched Llandrillo yn Llandrillo-yn-Rhos, wedi ymchwilio i yrfa Ethel drwy gofnodion y cyngor lleol a thoriadau papur newydd o'r cyfnod.
Meddai: "Mi gymerodd 40 mlynedd iddi, ond agor y cartref mamolaeth oedd ei gwaith oes. Ymhell cyn i eraill wneud hynny, roedd hi'n cydnabod bod merched yn marw wrth roi genedigaeth pan fo pethau y gellid eu gwneud i atal hyn. Treuliodd amser yn ceisio sefydlu clinigau a chael cyflogau i fydwragedd.
