Mary Berry: My husband Paul still prefers his mum's cooking

Mary and Paul after she was appointed a Dame in 2021

DAME Mary Berry might be the nation's favourite chef but there's one diner she can't quite impress.

The former Bake Off judge, 90, revealed: "My husband Paul has been my steadfast taster and by my side for 60 years. I am always trying out new recipes on him and Paul appreciates most of them. But he prefers the ones his mother used to make."

It's not like he could do any better though. Asked whether she ever lets Paul loose in the kitchen, Mary said: "Paul? You must be joking. He is very, very good with a corkscrew."

The chef and writer will celebrate the 60th anniversary of her wedding to Paul Hunnings next year.
