Battle to beat fears of wildlife disaster

Germany sent a naval surveillance plane to help the UK Coastguard monitor leaks and Transport Minister Mike Kane said anti-pollution measures would start after the Solong fire was totally out.

He told MPs: “We will begin to deploy them, assess the situation. It’s vital that we keep shipping lanes open as best we can in the Humber Estuary.”
