Manager Emery wasted no time securing the services of the former England international after Luton's relegation was confirmed in May.

A £5million deal was agreed within days of the campaign drawing to a close and it is clear that the Basque's silver tongue and Villa's qualification for the Champions League - played a major part in Barkley's decision.
