Crewe sizzle in the Ashton sun

CREWE Alexandra recorded a comfortable win in the blazing sunshine at Ashton United.
-
Lee Bell's men won their third friendly of summer 2025 thanks to goals from Josh March, Calum Agius, Fin Roberts, and a brace from a trialist.
The players stopped for drinks in each half due to the searing temperatures but still managed to put on a display of attractive football.
March opened the scoring in the opening seconds and The Railwaymen led 2-0 at the break after Agius benefited from good approach play from Owen Lunt.
Conor Thomas and Jack Powell both went close to adding to the scoresheet, but Crewe had to wait until the 68th minute for the third.
By then, Bell had made wholesale changes to his side and it was Roberts who found the trialist at the far post for a simple finish.
The on-trial striker made it 4-0 on 84 minutes, and Roberts completed the rout late on.
Crewe were due to travel to Radcliffe FC on Tuesday (7.45pm), before the visits of Birmingham City (Saturday, 3pm) and Stoke City (Wednesday, July 23, 7.30pm) to Mornflake Stadium.
