Counterfeit Currency Racket Busted in Annamayya District — 10 Arrested, Fake Notes and Equipment seized

In a major crackdown, Annamayya district police have unearthed a counterfeit currency racket and arrested ten members involved in the illegal printing and circulation of fake currency.

The operation, spearheaded by Valmikipuram (Vayalpad) Police, led to the seizure of 735 counterfeit %500 currency notes, along with high-end printing equipment, mobile phones, and other materials used in the illegal trade.
Disclosing the details at a press meet, District Superintendent of Police Sri V. Vidyasagar Naidu, IPS, said that the case was registered on June 26, 2025, following a complaint by Naveen Kumar, manager of Lucky Wine Shop in Valmikipuram. One of the accused, identified as Sheikh Kalesha, had attempted to purchase liquor using a fake %500 note. On being confronted, the accused fled the scene, prompting the shop manager to file a police complaint.
