City's own-build solar plant hits 2 400 panels

THE first municipal own-build solar plant is making progress in Cape Town, with around 2400 solar panels installed in Atlantis of the total planned 12850 to power the local grid by the end of the year.
"It's awe-inspiring to see thousands of panels springing up at this first City-owned solar plant in South Africa, which is also benefiting the local economy and community in Atlantis," said Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis during a site visit yesterday along with Energy mayco member, Xanthea Limberg.
