"THE Uhuru film festival is more than just a film showcase - it is a celebration of youth voices, a tribute to emerging talent and a bold declaration that Mogalakwena is a place where stories live, breathe and matter," said Mayor Ngoako Tauestsoala on the eve of the Uhuru film festival opening hosted by the Lifestyle restaurant on July 3.

He explained that the theme of this year's festival was rooted in freedom, identity and empowerment and aligns with the hopes and aspirations of the youth. "We believe that by nurturing platforms like Uhuru, we are planting seeds of economic development, personal growth and artistic excellence in the soil of our own community and we recognise the vital role that the creative industry plays in shaping society."
