Labelane wins Avbob mini-competition

LABELANE Mokonyama, a poet from Seshego and a law graduate from Unisa, ended third in the national Avbob Mini-Poetry Competition, which celebrates South Africa's rich diversity.

Currently seeking employment in her field, Mokonyama says poetry has become her sanctuary and her way of expressing freedom.

"My freedom of will and expression are fulfilled when I put ink to paper and pen to poetry. I can heal myself and those around me through this language of my heart.

"Poetry helps me shape my identity. Although I'm still marketing myself for work, I'm grateful to the Avbob Poetry Library for the opportunity to share my work on a broader scale."
