Blairgowrie community unite to get rugby grounds in top condition for next season

- ANDREW MCOUAT

A crowd of people rolled up their sleeves at the weekend to help with Blairgowire Rugby Club’s annual DIY Day to get the grounds ready for next season.

The rugby club had appealed to the community to come along on Saturday and help bring the pitches, goalpoasts and grounds at JJ Coupar Park.

Despite the threat of rain for the first few hours, the hard work paid off, with club president Kevin Brown thanking those who pitched in to help.

A spokesman said: “The club has had a big spruce up, with a large number of players and club members helping out on the annual DIY day.

“The weather was slightly against early doors but lots of prep was done on the goal posts and are now ready for painting, alongside this a massive clearance of shrubbery and general tidy up that required a number of skip runs was achieved.
