OWNER SAYS DEAL IS OFF IF HE CAN'T RESOLVE WRANGLE WITH COUNCIL

Park parking row may affect new restaurant

AN angry restaurant owner has slammed plans to charge motorists to park at a Birmingham beauty spot.

Sam Morgan, CEO of Open Restaurant Group, which runs the Bracebridge restaurant and neighbouring Sip and Slice kiosk in Sutton Park, hit out at Birmingham City Council's plan to charge for parking.

Mr Morgan has condemned proposals to turn a spot beside his restaurant into a formal public car parking area, claiming it risked public safety.

He said the parking area next to the Bracebridge was mainly used by his staff and for disabled restaurant-goers who needed to park close by.

Signs in the area say 'access restricted to permit holders, deliveries and pre-booked disabled access'.

Other visitors are told to park in the main car park, a short walk away.
