Thea inspires brother Nate's fundraising charity run

DOTING brother who limbered up for a festive run to say thank you for his little sister's care has raised over £760 for Birmingham Children's Hospital Charity.

Seven-year-old Nate Whitehead, from Castle Vale, pulled on his trainers to take on Birmingham Running Festival's Junior Run just before Christmas. He got sponsored by friends and family to complete the 0.8km distance to raise funds for Birmingham Children's Hospital, where his 15-month-old sister, Thea, has received care ever since she was born.

Nate's mum, Katie, had no idea that Thea would be so poorly when she was born at their local hospital. Nothing had been picked up on her scans during pregnancy but when Thea was just six-hours-old, it became clear something was wrong when Katie and her midwives realised she couldn't swallow.
