BIRMINGHAM Perry Barr MP Ayoub Khan is at the heart of plans to create a new independent party of MPs to take on the mainstream parties and challenge Reform.

News the party was close to getting off the ground was announced by Coventry South MP Zarah Sultana. She said in a statement that she was quitting the Labour Party and would co-lead a new independent movement of MPs and activists with Jeremy Corbyn. Together they intend to be an alternative for disillusioned voters.
