Departing MP cites ‘period of weakness’
A Pheu Thai Party veteran has admitted the party is in decline and is calling for major adjustments to be made after moving to the opposition benches.
Somkid Cheukong, a former MP for Ubon Ratchathani and former deputy secretary-general to former prime minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, was seen clearing out his Command Building 1 office inside Government House yesterday.
Speaking to reporters, Mr Somkid congratulated new Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and his government, saying the transition was in line with democratic principles.
“Politics works this way. Whoever comes to power through democratic means must be accepted.
