Textiles and heritage in focus at 'Beneath The Fiber'

Textiles are no longer mere objects but living palimpsests — a medium recording shared botanical, human and historical narratives across modern national boundaries — at a new exhibition titled “Beneath The Fiber”, which will open at Baan Tuek Art Center, Chiang Mai, on Sunday.

Featuring works by Atipa Chirathivat, Yeo Xuan and Dan Hong, “Beneath The Fiber” focuses on the overlapping genealogies of textile traditions spanning Southwest China to Southeast Asia, moving beyond the materials themselves to centre on the essential role of labour — how it is preserved, intellectualised and ritually enacted.
