Camberley compete in hot contest

CAMBERLEY were held to a draw by Oxted & Limpsfield in the Surrey Championship Division One on Saturday.

On one of the hottest days of the summer, Camberley’s home ground shimmered under an unrelenting sun. With temperatures soaring well into the 30s and barely a breeze to offer relief, conditions were as testing off the field as on it, as spectators hugged the boundary’s edge under the trees for any slivers of shade.

The visiting side won the toss and elected to field. Despite the conditions, Camberley rose to the challenge with a strong batting display, led by a composed 85 from Will Hale and a fluent 73 from Aiden Bariol.
