Mayor sacked by Tories as candidate in shock move

THE Mayor has been sacked as a candidate for next year’s local council elections by the Conservatives.

Hyndburn’s First Citizen Coun Josh Allen has been deselected as candidate in Oswaldtwistle’s Immanuel ward for the polls scheduled for May 7.
‘The move has left him ‘angry and upset’ and the borough's Tory group leader Coun Zak Khan ‘disappointed’.
Coun Allen, Mayor for 2025/26, revealed his deselection on social media.
He posted on Facebook: “So as councillor for Immanuel Ward for the past seven years and as sitting Mayor of Hyndburn I have been deselected by Hyndburn Conservatives.
