Concern for homeless woman
Accrington Observer
|July 11, 2025
A HOMELESS woman living in a tent at a recreation ground has been taken to her family after an outpouring of concern on social media.

Baxenden residents took to Facebook to express their worries about her welfare.
They also contacted the local ward councillor David Heap to express their fears for her safety.
She had been living in a tent on Baxenden Recreation Ground in Hollins Lane since March.
Cllr Heap went to see the woman in her mid-40s who had most recently been living in Rossendale and contacted her family in the North-East of England.
He then drove her to stay with her aunt in Northumberland on Thursday and posted his actions on social media to ease the worries of local people.
