TOP SPIREITES PUT DAYLIGHT BETWEEN TITLE CHASING PACK

CHESTERFIELD moved five points clear at the top of the National League with a scintillating second half display as they beat their closest title rivals Barnet in front of a sold-out SMH Group Stadium.

Goals from Armando Dobra, Will Grigg, Michael Jacobs and Joe Quigley, all in the second half, put the Spireites on course for a handsome win before consolation strikes from Barnet top scorer Nicke Kabamba in added time gave the scoreline a less flattering feel.

It was a statement win if ever there was one, but Chesterfield assistant boss Danny Webb admitted it wasn't an easy as it might have appeared.

"At half-time, you think we've been pretty off it first half," Webb said. "Fair play to Barnet, they were the better team in the first half.

"But we put them to the sword in the second half. It's a great win whichever way it came. I think the result was fair but the first half, we rode our luck a little bit." Barnet, two points behind the Spireites at the start of play after a nine-match unbeaten run, showed no fear in front of a bumper crowd of near 10,000 in north Derbyshire.
