FC UNITED and Salford City fought out an entertaining draw in front of a bumper pre-season crowd at Broadhurst Park with the Red Rebels twice taking the lead before being pegged back by their League Two opponents.
The all-Manchester clash proved a great occasion with 1,018 fans – including two members of the Class of 92 – saw both teams contribute to an end-to-end affair with the Rebels in no way overawed.
Indeed, it was the NPL Premier Division side who took the lead on 12 minutes when a corner from Jay Fitzmartin was missed by Marty Young in the Ammies goal and Jan Palinkas headed home.
The lead, however, lasted just five minutes when a lovely move down the Salford left saw Karelia Malcolm glide into the box before firing confidently into the net.
