AVELEY’S Velocity Trophy win could provide an ‘extra push’ ahead of their promotion run-in, according to manager Danny Scopes.
The Millers secured their league cup triumph – the club’s first for 33 years – with an impressive 3-0 victory over Potters Bar Town on Wednesday night.
Tom Stephen put Aveley in front on the stroke of half-time before second-half strikes from Benas Vaivada and Oli Coker sealed victory against a below-par Bar.
And with his Millers’ side locked in the Isthmian Premier title race in their first season at Step 3, boss Scopes hopes it can provide a platform for more success.
“I’m really pleased, I think it had become an important competition for the football club,” he told The NLP.
