Andrew Weatherall's dream studio team that he turned into a band thrusts again.
Three years into becoming the UK's most seismic DJ and startlingly innovative producer after saving Primal Scream, Andrew Weatherall started a record label with partner Nina Walsh, naming it Sabres Of Paradise after a Haysi Fantayzee B-side (itself heisted from Lesley Blanch's 1960 biography of Caucasian war leader Imam Shamyl).
Their first release in early 1992 was Weatherall's transformation of Throbbing Gristle's United with dazzling studio alchemist Jagz Kooner and mercurial multi-instrumentalist Gary Burns, who he'd clicked with remixing Jah Wobble's Visions of You. Cutting through electronic dance music's encroaching corporate elements and commercial rave fluff with striking visuals, hand-scrawled press releases and punk attitude, the label felt like joining an insurrectionary underground movement when this writer's techno blues duo Secret Knowledge became their first signings.
