A generous family home embraces effortless living, thanks to an inspired owner-designer partnership.

Home to a family with two active boys, now eight and six, this manicured mansion in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs needed to let its hair down.

The owner had long admired the work of Amy Spargo of Maine House Interiors for her classic yet playful style.

And, as the designer is also a mother - to three in her case - she'd know how to make the house work practically from day to day. Like minds came together in a wonderfully symbiotic relationship, with striking results.

The six-bedroom house was originally purchased in 2018. "It was the perfect family home with space to kick a ball, generous entertaining spaces and, rare in this area, a flat backyard extending to the pool," says the owner. "It ticked all the boxes." Well, nearly. "It had been renovated in the previous decade, but in a style that didn't know where it wanted to be."
