Sudden Heart Attack! Shockwaves Everywhere!
Earlier, heart attacks were commonly seen among the elderly and rarely in the youth. But now, the situation has come to such a stage that even children are being diagnosed with heart conditions. You may have observed that several medical fields and researchers are actively trying to identify the causes behind this alarming trend.
Looking at the recent increase in death cases, it is truly surprising to see that according to the report by the American Heart Association, the leading cause of death is stated to be heart disease.
No symptoms, still a heart attack?
As a practitioner of Marma Chikitsa, I often encounter people saying, “Doctor, that person was fit, had no bad habits, and had no known heart conditions — yet suddenly died of a heart attack!” Or they ask, “Why are even children getting heart attacks nowadays?” To all such questions, Ayurveda can not only offer answers but also solutions.
The Heart: More Than a Pump
When I was a student of Ayurveda, my Guru Dr. Mamatha Moorthy, while explaining about the heart, asked us:
At that moment, I was stunned and had no answer — what connection do emotions have with the heart?
If we consider real-life examples — such as heart attacks occurring in the early morning, due to COVID-related fear, or from hearing shocking news, especially in emotionally fragile individuals — we begin to realize that the root cause is an impact on the Marma of the heart.
What is this Hrudaya Marma?
